Note*Peter Taffe The Taffe family ancestors were thought to have migrated from Ireland, about 1740-1750, and to have settled in Northern Virginia. Three of these men, thought to be brothers, were Peter, James, and one whose given name is unknown. They were thought to have come in the brigantine "Swift" of Jacob Hite. The unknown named brother was one of those killed in the 1758 Indian attack on William Wallace Warden's stockade fort, along with William Wallace and one of his sons. Peter subsequently married William Wallace's widow.1
