Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York, and married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, President Theodore Roosevelt's niece, and FDR's 5th cousin, once removed, on March 17, 1905 in New York City. He was first elected President in 1932, and served four terms, from March 4, 1933, until he died in office on April 12, 1945 at his home in Warm Springs, Georgia. His accomplishments were too numerous to list, but included the New Deal created during the Great Depression of the 1930's, and also the defense of the country after the bombing of Pearl Harbor brought the US into World War II.

He was the eighth Prime Minister of Canada, serving from October 10, 1911 to July 9, 1920. He served during World War I, and was responsible for transforming his government to a wartime administration. This eventually allowed Canada to assert itself as an independent power, and Borden helped to transform the British Empire into a partnership of equal states, known as the Commonwealth of Nations. He was one of the great genealogists of the twentieth century, and an authority on English and Norman medieval families. His voluminous works included over 130 articles in the "New England Historical and Genealogical Register," more than 75 articles to "The American Genealogist," and "English Origins of New England Families from NEHGR," 1st series, 3 vols. (1984). He was elected to the National Genealogy Society Hall of Fame in 1990.
