     His main hobby has been golf, both competitive and administrative. He has won numerous local, state and international events, and has competeted in a number of national and international events. He served for many years with the Alabama Golf Association and the United States Golf Association, as a rules official and as a committee-member, and was president of the AGA in 1993-1994. He was elected to the Birmingham Golf Association Hall of Fame in 2013.3

She has also been a tireless volunteer at Canterbury Methodist Church, where she served as a youth director, co-founded the Carpenter's Hands program, and developed the Brown Bag Project, which provides weekly meal bags for hundreds of less fortunate members of the community.
She enjoys caring for John Wesley, the family dog, traveling with her family, and playing golf with her husband.4

Interest* In an interesting twist of fate, Jerry Louise (otherwise known as Sissy to her family) was a kindergarten teacher for about 15 years at Grace Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL, where her director was Benna Jean (Jones) Dowdey. Sissy was also a Youth Counselor for the church, and one of her church youth was Benna Jean's son Ben. About 15 years later in the winter of 1979, Sissy's sister Susan met Ben on a blind date, and "the rest is history," as they say. We now have the Dowdey-Wildsmith website, after Ben and Susan married later that year.5
