Nancy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery is located on 8th Street in Brookhaven, DeKalb Co., Georgia, and across the street from Nancy Creek Primitive Baptist Church (1685 8th Street, Chamblee, Georgia). Interestingly, the church and cemetery addresses are in two different cities. The church was founded in 1824, and still functions today.
A number of early settlers in this area of what eventually became part of Greater Atlanta, are buried here, including Harris and Solomon Goodwin, and their extended familes. In 1966, the development of the MARTA rail line forced the reinterment of a number of graves to the Goodwin/Hall burial ground at the Solomon Goodwin home, located at 3931 Peachtree Road, Brookhaven, DeKalb Co., Georgia.
However, according to Albert Martin, Jr., 3rd great-grandson of Solomon Goodwin, in the fall of 2007 the Goodwin/Hall burial ground had to be returned to Nancy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. to preserve its safety and sanctity under the auspices of the Goodwin History Society, and in accordance with state and county regulations.
